The Nageshwar Jyotirlinga temple in Dwarka, Gujarat, is associated with the story of a demon named Daruka who was a devout devotee of Lord Shiva. Daruka tortured a Shiva devotee named Supriya because Supriya refused to teach him the proper method of worship. Supriya's unwavering devotion and chants of "Om Namaha Shivay" impressed Lord Shiva, who appeared and vanquished Daruka. Lord Shiva then resided at that place as Nageshwar.
