History& Mythology of Bhavnath Mahadev Mandir

The Bhavnath Mahadev temple has its origins in ancient times, with its narrative rooted in the Puranic period. According to legend, during a journey across the Girnar Hills, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati accidentally dropped their divine garment at the location of the current Mrigi Kund, thereby designating it as a sacred site for devotees of Shiva. Even now, the naga bavas are recognized for bathing in the holy Mrigi Kund prior to participating in the Maha Shivratri procession.
